Dermatologists are trained to treat patients of all ages, from newborns to the elderly. This includes the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of problems of the skin, hair and nails. Conditions common among children are moles and birthmarks, eczema, acne, warts, and rashes. In adults we treat a range of conditions such as cancers and pre-cancers, rosacea, psoriasis and shingles. We also treat eczema, rashes, and other disorders that occur in all age groups, and carefully examine moles or other growths to determine whether they are concerning. At Bluegrass Dermatology, we evaluate and treat common dermatologic conditions, including:
We also offer numerous therapeutic procedures, including surgical excisions, Mohs micrographic surgery for skin cancers, photodynamic therapy with blue light for precancerous lesions, and a wide variety of cosmetic services.
Skin cancer is the most common cancer, and is highly treatable when found early. Risk factors for skin cancer include fair skin, family history of skin cancer, and history of significant sun exposure. Skin cancers vary in shape, color, size and texture. It is recommended that any changing or otherwise suspicious growths be examined by a physician. During a skin cancer screening, you will be offered an examination of the skin from scalp to feet (or to your comfort level). In addition to the examination, you will be educated on any growths noted by our dermatologists, and any suspicious growths will be biopsied or scheduled for treatment.
